Explanatory mailer about machine-generated duplicate mailings

Explanatory mailer about machine-generated duplicate mailings

An original postal-history paper object from the collection, catalogued as a meter-franked explanatory mailer. Pale green cover with a red Hamburg 80-pfennig meter impression dated 27 November 1985. A printed notice explains that electronic data processing and machine packing can cause several mailings to reach the recipient on the same day and asks for understanding; the sender is not securely identified. The catalogue dating is “1985”, the country or postal area is “Federal Republic of Germany”, and the visible franking or postal charge is recorded as “80 Pfennig meter franking”. Condition is typical of genuinely transported and opened correspondence: folds, light soiling, edge wear and small opening tears may be present and have not been concealed. Front and back were scanned directly with all visible edges retained, without retouching or artificial restoration. Details that cannot be read securely from the scan are deliberately identified as approximate rather than asserted as certain.
